Kyo Sa Nim? Kyo Sa in Japanese is pronouced "Kyoshi".
Sabum is pronouced "Shihan" in Japanese.

Susuk Sabum
The term Susuk Sabum is given to the first assistant instructor in a particular dojang. This is the person in the first row, right hand corner
who leads the warm up, teach the white belts and so forth. The usual rank of such a student in the US is 1st or 2nd Dan. The connotation behind the Susuk Sabum title is that this person is not the Master or Head Instructor of his or her own dojang, but rather is a student who is training at someone else's dojang.

Titles in Kuk Sool Won by Bill Page
Most students train for about 4 to 5 years before reaching a level ready to begin Black Belt testing. The Black Belt titles in Kuk Sool
Won are as follows. I should include that only our Grand Master (Kuksanim) In Hyuk Suh can test anyone in our system for 1st
Degree Black Belt or above. Most students test anywhere from 5 to 7 times (generally over the period of one year) before being awarded
whatever black belts they are testing for..

Dahnbonim  =  Black Belt Candidate. (This is a brown/black belt of at least two stripes. They are required to test as many times as
necessary before our Grand Master  (about 5 to 7 times) over the period of one year before being awarded the 1st Degree Black Belt.

Jokyonim  =  1st Degree Black Belts and are required to remain a 1st degree for at least two years before being allowed to begin testing for 2nd Degree.

Kyosanim  =  2nd Degree Black Belts and are required to remain a 2nd degree for a minimum of 3years before being allowed to begin
testing for 3rd degree

PuSabanim  =  3rd Degree Black Belts and are required to remain a 3rd degree for a minimum of 4years before being allowed to test for
4th Degree

Sabanim  =   4th Degree Black Belts and are required to remain a 4th degree or a minimum of 5 years before being allowed to begin testing for 5th Degree

Kwanjanim  =  5th Degree through 8th Degree Master Level Black Belts (they all share the same title). Actual promotion times at this point in Kuk Sool are even slower than what the above time frames are set at. By the time you see someone of the 6th Degree or above it means that they have more than 30 years invested in their training.

ChangKwanjanim  =  9th Degree Chief Master. Only one person holds this title at any given time. This is the #2 person in charge of our system.

KukSanim  =  10th Degree Grand Master.

The titles for the above ranks come automaticly when the rank is achieved; however, anyone wishing to start their own school or teach
in a club must be licenced through the World Kuk Sool Association no matter what their rank.

Japanese arts that are Do arts have the suffix Do appended to the end of their name. Jitsu, which is pronounced Sool in Korean, have that at the end of their art name. Mudo, pronounced Budo in Japanese is in contrast to Musool, or Bujitsu in Japanese. In Korea, Mu Yea (Bugei in Japanese) is used more frequently traditional that Moo Sool.
